Genesis 1:20-25, ' And God said, " Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind, And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth." And there was evening, and there was morning- the fifth day. And God said, " Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its own kind. And it was so. God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. '
Now, why would God create insignificant , ugly and tiny insects? Although it seems that they have no purpose to exist, God actually preaches to us through his creations. He is so great that He can even use insects to preach to us! Proverbs 30:24 ," Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer." This verse shows us the wisdom of the ant, which can be described using one word "preparedness". However, today I will be posting about the wisdom od the rock badger.
God created the Cheetah to have an aerodynamic skull, oversized lungs and large nasal passages to take in more oxygen, and be able to go from 0 to 100km/h in 2 seconds. A truly magnificant creature of speed. However, God chooses not to preach to us using such magnificant creatures, but rather, through small and insignificant animals and insects to show us that no matter how small and insignificant we are, we can be exceedingly wise and powerful if we allow Him to use us.
God is not impressed by great things because He alone is great. God shows us His power and glory by being able to use small things to doing great things!
Ordinary people + Extraordinary God = Extraordinary Things
You can be little but wise, tiny but powerful! God does not look at external might, but rather internal might!
Now, the rock badger is feeble, slow and is not able to burrow underground, which makes it easy prey for predators like eagles, but it makes its home in the crags, or rocks, and thus it is protected. Similarly, God is our rock, and we are the rock badgers!
2 Samuel 22:2-3 ,"...The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, "
The rock badger knows that its strength lies in the rocks, and hides in it. Just like the rock badger, so we must be. It knows that it is weak and so hides in an environment which protects it. Just like the rock badger, a wise person knows that he is weak, but can trust in someone who is stronger than him, and that is God.
But, the church is also like a rock. It protects us from the devil. Rock badgers that venture too far from their rocks are easily picked off by eagles. Similarly, weak Christians are easily picked off by the devil once they leave their "rocks" and backslide. That's why it is critical for new Christians to come to church weekly to grow in the spirit and allow God to guard their hearts and minds. Rock badgers also live in communities, and just like them, the church is our community, and we stay together for strength and warmth.
And the prophetic message for the rock badger is : Positioning . We, like the rock badger, must learn to position ourselves in the church and God, so that we may be protected from evil that lurks just outside.
