Proverbs 30:27 ," Locusts have no king, yet they advance together in ranks;" That was the day's sermon. The wisdom of the locust.
Locusts, do not tend to congregate by instinct. Rather, they learn to come together in swarms. Locusts usually live solitary lives and remain in a solitarious form, and they even go out of their way to be alone. If nothing happens, they will remain this way all their lives. However, there is a more sinister alter ego to their seemingly "docile" nature, called the gregarious form. In this form, the locusts become more aggressive and start to congregate in swarms.
But what causes this drastic transformation? Water. Rain causes vegetation growth and allows the female to lay eggs in the sandy soil. The new vegetation provides food and shelter as the nymphs develop into winged adults. The vegetation is distributed in such a way that the young locusts have to congregate to feed, and the close physical contact causes the insects' hind legs to bump up against one another. This causes changes in their behaviour and bodies, transforming them into the aggressive gregarious form that many know to destroy crops.
Locusts are like an army, and just like them, so we must be, to work together as a church and impact lives in all levels of society. Individual Christians who think that they do not need to go to church and work alone are weak! Only be coming together and moving as one can they actually do something.
Also, Locusts are always hungry! And just like the locusts, we Christians must also be hungry for God! If you are not hungry for Him, or if your fire has died down somewhat, hang out with people who are. Like the locusts that congregate together in swarms to feed, we must also come together as a church and "feed" on spiritual food, which is the Word Of God!
Lastly, locusts cannot fly as their wings are too stiff and straight. The locust's strength is not in its wings, but its legs! Even if they can't get to their food fast enough, they are resilient and determined enough to jump their way to feed. Just like the locust, so we must be, with a spirit of determination and resilience to seek Him. And even if we don't fly, we can jump!
Also, the locusts have the quality of patience and "faith". Swarms of locusts actually rely on the wind to get to their food. At first, there is no wind. They wait, and wait, and wait. Finally, a small breeze, and it gets bigger and bigger until finally, the wind becomes a string gale, and the locusts will take a leap of faith and jump! Then, they spread their wings and catch the wind, and they glide far.
We must learn the locust's quality of patience, and wait for the right time to jump. Then, when the wind of the Holy Spirit blows, we take a leap of faith and jump, and we will soar!
Locusts cannot navigate and change direction due to their wing structure. However, they go wherever the wind takes them. This is an example of faith, because the locusts know not where they will end up. For example, locust swarms can be carried by the wind all the way across the Atlantic Ocean to Central America.
And So, we must all develop the quality of patience, and take our leaps of faith at the right time. With that, I end off with this verse. John 3:8 ," The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."
And so, the prophetic message for the locust is : Propel
